About Me

“Julia’s level of organization is almost intimidating. She is very goal-oriented and strategic in everything she does.”

“Julia is direct, honest, and so smart. As a director, she is approachable, organized, and hard-working. As a peer, she has been clear about her opinions and ideas, has communicated well, and has been up-front about everything.”

“RESEARCH QUEEN! Thanks for making the scary research make sense.”

Although I’ve generated this reputation amongst my peers overtime, there are a few things that I do in my personal time that allows me to flex my brain both in and out of work.

I’m a reader, and that means I’ll read just about anything – this extends to reading:

  • Newsletters that I subscribe to that are almost obligatory in the advertising strategy realm (WIRED, Quartz, The Download from MIT, Matt Navarra, etc.)

  • Examinations of the Earth’s biodiversity, its destruction, and how humans can undo some, if not all, of its environmental damage wrecked on this planet (A Life on Our Planet by David Attenborough)

  • Memoirs written by people who have so boldy shared their memories of growing up (Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner)

  • Heart wrenching love stories between two unlikely characters (Alone With You in the Ether by Olivie Blake)

  • Or a fictional rendition of how the possession of money or lack thereof impacts a romantic relationship (The Beautiful and Damned by F. Scott Fitzgerald)

Not only does reading keep my mind sharp, but it allows me to appreciate the art of writing and storytelling through the lens of an author’s mind and life. I’ve been trying to read more nonfiction books lately and have been tracking my progress with StoryGraph – take a look at my current and past reads if you’d like!

Just like a coin with two sides, in addition to reading, I love to write. During my undergrad, I wrote for a few publications – but my utmost favorite is my opinion piece about providing spaces for multiracial students in higher education. As someone who is Chinese and Puerto Rican, I struggle with identifying as one or the other when I’m taking surveys, introducing myself, or participating in advocation groups. In the article, you can see my background come through in addition to how this relates to the bigger picture I’m trying to paint.

Since I grew up on the beaches of Puerto Rico and live in the Catskills, I have a high appreciation for the outdoors and try to bask in the sun as much as I can. I’ve gone skydiving, and am currently (as of June 2022) attempting to hike six fire towers in the Sullivan County region to complete the fire tower challenge in my hometown area. I’m also familiar with the Minnewaska State Park Preserve and Taughannock Falls State Park, which are two of my favorite places to hike most often. Here are some photos ︎

In addition to these things, you can also find me crocheting a sweater for my dog, cooking myself some eggs, caring for my houseplants, or ranting about how capitalism is destroying society. If you’d like to know more about me personally or professionally, you can reach me at the following places:
